Every family, child and adult that comes to the studio becomes part of our family. We strive to provide a welcoming, loving, supportive and fun atmosphere for everyone. 

We recognize how unpredicatable raising children in Calgary can be! Our programs are flexible and please never hesitate to let us know what you would like to see more of or any services you may need. 

It really does take a village to raise little citizens!


MEET OUR TEAM

 Miss Katherine  Katherine is our Of the Wild Preschool Director. Katherine has always had a love for teaching children and is passionate about inquiry based learning in early childhood education. She loves seeing the spark of learning ignite as children explore and discover the world around them. She is originally from Ontario where she taught grade 3, 4 and Full Day Kindergarten. She moved to Calgary and obtained her Masters of Education specializing in Early Childhood with a focus on inquiry based learning.

Miss Leah also loves dogs and is hoping to get one of her own soon!

 Miss Claire  Claire came to Canada in May 2018 from the Philippines where she was a registered nurse for 5 years. In her spare time Miss Claire enjoys watching Netlix and reading. Miss Claire plans to get certified to practice nursing here but for now is enjoying spending time with little Ellie, working in childcare and the fresh start Canada.

Miss Claire plans to get certified to practice nursing here but for now is enjoying spending time with little Ellie, working in childcare and the fresh start Canada.

 Miss Maxine  Maxine is our cook and the reason we all avoid the “hangry” phase. She has been working in childcare for 18 years and moved here from Jamaica in 2009. She has a son and two grandchildren that live in the States and visits them when she can. Miss Maxine loves to watch dramatic movies and can often be found singing in the kitchen while she cooks for over 100 daily!

 Miss Diana  Diana's love for working with children and learning is what brought her into the field of education.  Miss Chloe  Chloe spends most of her time at the computer taking care of the studios administrative happenings. She always has time for a hug and never turns down story time! She is known for saying yes to everything! (and having no rules) Her little dog Harry Winston is always close by - he loves to cuddle and when the children take him for a walk.

 Miss Shawn  Shawn (aka Shawni by her friends) loves to spend her time outside, especially in the summer. She is the eldest of 6 children. She is a go-getter, low risk taker, with a love for adventure. She loves music, dancing, and spending time with children. Miss Shawn’s personal motto is; ambition never hurts.

 Miss Elma  Elma came to Calgary from El Salvador 30 years ago. She has been working with children of all ages since 1996. Her favourite activity to do with the children is craft! In her spare time Miss Elma can be found colouring, doing crafts with her niece and nephew, or spending her time at church.

 Miss Earrie  Originally from Jamaica, Miss Earrie came to Calgary in 1988. She has three kids and 12 grandchildren. Lisa has spent the last 13 years coaching gymnastics as a fully trained level 2 certified gymnastics instructor. It was while coaching that she discovered her true love of teaching children and decided to expand her knowledge to teach preschool. After having a son and daughter of her own she went ahead and did her Montessori training and became a level 1 certified Montessori teacher.  Miss Mariah  Maria’s love of languages and literature has brought her to Of the Wild Nature Preschool. Maria has over 7 years of education experience. She previously worked for 6 years as a French teacher for Preschool, Kindergarten and grades 1 through 6. In 2015 she moved to Calgary with her family and secured a position as a Grade 2 Teaching Assistant. We are excited to have Maria incorporate French in the classroom!

Maria’s love of languages and literature has brought her to Of the Wild Nature Preschool. Maria has over 7 years of education experience. She previously worked for 6 years as a French teacher for Preschool, Kindergarten and grades 1 through 6. In 2015 she moved to Calgary with her family and secured a position as a Grade 2 Teaching Assistant. We are excited to have Maria incorporate French in the classroom!

 Miss Bailey  Bailey is our Operations Manager. She keeps everything in order and running smoothly - this includes emails, payments, and programming the website. Bailey has a degree in Anthropology from Mount Royal University, her 200 hr yoga teacher training certificate from Alberta Yoga College and her Kids Yoga Certification. She loves hiking, painting, playing softball, video games, yoga and travelling. She also volunteers at the YMCA teaching yoga and has two pet bunnies.

 Miss Tracy  Tracey is part of the Ferns team, helping and teaching our preschool children to prepare for kindergarten!  She is also a yoga teacher and loves to teach kids of all ages at the center!

 Miss Jessica  Jess is our driver and kindergarten teacher. She has worked with children for over 14 years! Both of her boys come with her to daycare and they love it. She has a huge passion for personal growth and development. She owns two huge dogs that think they are tiny, she loves being outdoors in the sunshine and learning self defence martial arts such as kick boxing. She loves getting messy with the kids and letting her inner child out!

 Miss Marline  Marline is originally from the Philippines and spent 14 years in Hong Kong before coming to Calgary in 2008. She has worked with kids of all ages for almost two decades and says she loves their outlook on life and the way they keep you young. In her spare time, Miss Marline loves to read, swim and go for walks with her friends that she considers family.

 Miss Nan  Nan came to Canada from Myanmar in 2008 and has been working with children for the last three years. She is the proud mom of three boys and loves to spend her free time with her family. Miss Nan can be found in the Sprouts class playing, singing, crafting and talking to all the busy toddlers.

 Miss Megan  Megan graduated from The University of Alberta in 2013 with a Bachelor of Elementary Education, and a minor of Physical Education.  Miss Bella  Bella is a passionate child care worker and a proud mother of five children, 3 boy and two girls. In her home country she worked with children for ten years before moving to Canada. She has been living and working in Canada since 2016 in . Her dream is to be designing and sew dresses. In her free time she loves to do crafts and cook!

 Miss Hortense  Hortense came to Canada from Jamaica in 1992 with her husband and two sons. She loves to write children’s books to share with her students. In her spare time, Miss Hortense loves to sing with her musician husband, cook, garden and travel.

 Miss Rosemary  Rosemary, or "Rose" as most of us call her, came to Canada from the Philippines in 2008.  In 2006 Rose earned her Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering. He has started his journey to gain more certifications, training, and knowledge through the Of the Wild/Wee Wild Ones organization. Andrew still enjoys childhood past times such as comics, superheroes, video games and sports. He is young at heart and has a huge imagination - making him a perfect fit here at Of the Wild.

She started her career working in after school program with special needs and then transitioned into group home with high risk children and youth. She has spent the last two years working as an EMR in norther BC, but she is beyond excited to be back working with kids !
