What is the Monster March?
The Monster March was started by Wee Wild Ones in 2017 as a way to bring families together, explore our city, and support local organizations that uplift children and families in need. Over the years, this initiative has grown into a movement, encouraging families to get outside, stay active, and have fun—all while making a meaningful impact.
From 2017 to 2023, Monster March raised over $230,000 for various organizations, supporting Calgary’s most vulnerable families through respite programs, crisis nurseries, and essential support services. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to their mission.
2025 Impact Report
On behalf of the entire Wee Wild Ones and WilderFutures Team, we are delighted to share that our Monster March Scavenger Hunt raised $10,000 in support of the Calgary Public Library Foundation.
This year’s event brought together families, educators and community members in a creative and playful way, all while contributing to a cause that aligns so closely with our shared values of learning, literacy, and community connection.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this years Monster March - whether it be through raising funds, walking, Scavenger Hunt, or spreading the word about the events!

As we look ahead, we are excited to embark on a new chapter. In 2025, Monster March will be marching for The Calgary Public Library Foundation. The Library is more than just books—it’s a cornerstone of our community, providing children and families with access to literacy programs, educational resources, and safe spaces for learning and connection. Through our fundraising efforts, we aim to support initiatives that foster a love of reading, curiosity, and lifelong learning for Calgary’s youngest citizens.
But Monster March isn’t just about giving back—it’s also about moving, playing, and making healthy living fun! Throughout May, also known as “Monster Month”, families can track their steps, log their movement, and stay active as they prepare for the big celebration in the spring. Whether it’s running, walking, dancing, or skipping—every step counts! Challenge your little ones with our Kids Kilometer Tracker: aim to complete 41KM before race day, then complete the final 1.2KM during the Kids’ Race—or celebrate their marathon milestone by joining the 5KM Monster March Walk/Run! It’s a great way to keep them active and engaged in the excitement leading up to the big event.
This journey is about more than just kilometers—it’s about embracing movement, discovering our city, and sharing meaningful moments together. And this year, every step supports a cause that helps stories come to life—for all children, in every corner of Calgary.
Event Details
What: Servus Calgary Marathon - Goodlife Fitness 5 KM Race (AKA - Monster March!)
When: Saturday, May 24th at 9:15 AM
Where: Stampede Trail, Calgary, AB
Registration Fee: $64.53 + GST
Who: Everyone – staff, families, and friends! Strollers, Wheelchairs, and Kids are encouraged!
All participants in the 5 km race MUST be registered, with the exception of children that are ALREADY registered for the Kids Marathon OR children that will be in strollers for the entire duration of the race. Please note that children without a 5 km bib will not receive a shirt, medal or any amenities at the finish line.

No. The registration fee goes to the Calgary Marathon for their operating costs. The registration fee includes a completion medal and t-shirt for all participants! To add a donation to the Calgary Public Library, please follow the prompts during the registration process.

Yes! There is a youth fee for Children under the age of 18.

According to the Calgary Marathon Rules and Regulations, children in strollers are able to participate at no cost. However, they must stay in the stroller for the entire duration of the 5km. Please note that children without a 5 km bib will not receive a shirt, medal or any amenities at the finish line.

For kids that want to participate in both the Kids Race and the 5 km event (not in a stroller), registration for both events is required; however, the discounted youth pricing will still apply to both events.
